Elders Insurance

Spoke to a representative by the name of Ash today at 10:30 regarding an incident that happened the night prior. I called and asked about the process of making a claim as someone who isn’t with an insurance company and only have the compulsory Transport Accident Commission (TAC) that is paid mandatorily with my car’s registration. I explained to Ash that I only paid for TAC (which is owned by the Victorian Government and does not cover property damage) to which the representative replied that VIC does not have anything that is government owned for insurance and only Western Australia has such thing- a big red flag. She asked with no interest what happened, and I explained to her that the client with Elders Insurance who I want to make a claim against was negligently parked with his tow bar sticking out considerably over the parking line which went onto my adjacent parking space causing damage to my car. Even with a reverse camera it was not possible to see that his tow bar stuck out not to mention if someone had been driving without a reverse camera. Ash insisted that the general law in VIC is that the one at fault is the one who is moving into the parking space regardless of how someone is parked which I replied that I wholeheartedly understand but it was impossible to see with only the tow bar of the car sticking out which was the same colour with the ground. I just wanted to get help on my end about the process I can take regardless of whether or not my claim is successful but she repeated “the general law” three times and refused to listen. Her tone was extremely dismissive and instead of listening to respond, she went on repeating the same things over and over. She seemed like she lacked overall experience at the job. I am considering comprehensive insurance after what happened last night but through my experience with Ash would never choose Elders due to the lack of empathy, experience and helpfulness provided by the representative.
